Some builders will charge significantly higher prices, yet the quality of their homes, particularly in terms of Level of Detail (LOD), does not match up. This results in houses that can lose their form or even disappear when viewed from a distance, a frustrating experience especially considering the higher cost involved. This isn’t just speculation, but a reality experienced by many, including myself.

My initial venture of spending 9000L on a house was driven purely by its style appeal. However, the investment soon revealed its shortcomings, primarily in its incapacity to be captured in photographs. No matter the angle, the house would frustratingly vanish, a glaring issue with its LOD.

This led me to ONSU, and I chose the Westport as my first home from their range. It served me well for a few years, but I found myself yearning for a change, something new for my partner and I. My next choice was the Palo Alto model, inspired by the open-plan, window-rich homes found in Australia. This choice wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was about embracing the spectacular views over The Great Lake in Launceston and Magnetic Island in Aussie Shores Estates. The Palo Alto’s spacious design and large pool were perfect for this setting, allowing us to fully appreciate the scenic beauty of the region.

In addition to making the Palo Alto our home, I also made it available as a rental. Its style and features fit harmoniously with the region’s theme, making it an ideal choice for both personal enjoyment and for offering to tenants. This dual purpose of the Palo Alto – as a personal haven and a rental property – exemplifies its versatility and appeal in the diverse landscape of Second Life.

Owning land in Second Life offers the unique benefit of being able to curate multiple homes to suit various moods and experiences.
